I recently installed Xubuntu 16.04.5 (32-bit version) on my computer, and downloaded the Horizon client.
Whenever I attempt to login to my work VDI, it authenticates but then when I open a desktop, it closes immediately.
I have found several forum posts that seem relevant
but none of the solutions seem to work for me (other than downgrade Ubuntu to version 14, which I haven't tried yet).
Update 01/31/2019: Upgraded the View client to 4.10, still same results, but now it generates a crashlog.

Have you looked at the Horizon Agent logs on your work computer? Do you know what agent version you are using and what is the back end server version?
I am making an assumption you are connecting to a Windows VM
By "Horizon Agent" I presume you mean the virtual desktop server, correct?
No, the VDI computer you are connecting to has an agent on it, not the server. The logs on your work computer may reveal why you are getting disconnected.
Install Horizon Agent on a Virtual Machine
Your Horizon Client also has logs that need to be reviewed. You can post the log bundle here, just keep in mind the server name and your user name will be in the logs.
If your server and agent are 6.2, i think you should be on a 3.2 client. Have you tried downgrading to an older version?
