No vmrun for Workstation Player 15 ?

Hello

For Player 14 vmrun is available via VIX installer. After upgrade to 15 this VIX version stopped working.

From what I checked VIX is now part of Workstation Pro install, I thought it should be also in Player installer but looks like is missing in this Workstation version.

In compare datasheet of Pro and Player vmrun is listed for both versions.

How I can install this feature for Workstation Player ?

Have you tried using the "vmrest" API? I think it's included in v15. If we could find a API CLI client, would probably work with workstation/player and replicate the vmrun commands.

Hi,

AFAICR vmrun never was part of the Workstation Player installer.

You can however install it manually afterwards.

From what I understood the 1.17 release also works for Player 15.

Have you tried that? I am unable to get that to work. I can't find the download for the most recent version and v.1.15 on the provided link doesnt seem to work.

Sorry, the page I linked only has the release notes of VIX 1.17, you need the download:

Download VMware VIX 1.17

Officially that is the VIX as released with Workstation 14.

In Workstation they also bundle 1.17.

I am not sure if it will work. I've read reports from no and others where it did end up working (they might have had to hand edit a config file though)

In the following thread:

it is mentioned that there is no longer a separate download, but as you can see there is a download from 1.17, but it is not easy to find.
