Pro 15: Dialog too large

Hello,

the usual app dialogs are way too large on a 3 Monitor system.

IMG_1174.jpg

The dialog comes up with 7832x129 pixels Smiley Happy

ApplicationFrameHost_DmO2qtW4VZ.png

     Monitor 2 is a 4K Monitor, but set to 2560x1440 / 100 %

     Monitor 1 is a 4K Monitor,  3840x2160 / 100 % ( Main Display )

     Monitor 3 is a 4K Monitor, but set to 2560x1440 / 100 %

I'm running Windows 10, latest patch level, VmWare 15.0.2 build-10952284

Any ideas how to fix this?

This happens on any machine with multiple monitors. It happens on two different machines for me, both which have three monitors in a similar configuration.

It's probably using the desktop width instead of the primary monitor width when creating the box.

Yep, same here.  And naturally I figure I'd be a good customer and try to report it to them, which they made all but impossible........

Hi,

I logged a support case. But no fix for it yet. I only hope they fix it in the next build.

I don't know maybe people logging some other cases might have some more influence.

Thanks,

Ward

Do you have the support number by chance?

We shouldn't be behaving like this, and I can "influence" folks to fix it Smiley Wink

Hi Mikero,

Understand - my apologies.. Sorry feeling a bit frustrated by the issue at the moment. I logged it via a pay-per incident then they called me.

Here is the support number I found.

Australia

English Language Support

1800 040 235

0386 237 239

Unless you are asking about my case # which is: 18023530712

Any influence you can do to help fix the issue would be great Smiley Happy

If VMWare need somebody to proof / test the fix for the issue I am happy to volunteer - since I can so easily reproduce it.

Thanks,

Ward.

Looks like we've been able to track this one down. We only see this issue in Windows 10 1809, our tests of 1803 can't reproduce this issue.
We've found the area of our code which handles this and we're not doing anything different, but our native-os calls are being handled differently at the OS level.

It's unclear if this is by design due to their changes or an unexpected consequence of something.

Windows 10 version 1809 has been out for almost a year now. Does VMware have a fix? If it's already fixed in an update, could the fix version please be referenced in this post?

Yes, Workstation version 15.1.0 fixes this dialog box issue, as referenced in the Product Release Announcement back on May 15th or so....
