vCenter 6.7 eval not working. 59 days left.

Hello, everyone!

I just installed a fresh vCenter with evaluation licences.  When I go to manage license, it says that I still have 59 days to go, but I cannot see any hosts or VMs in vCenter.  Everything is blocked, as if the license was already expired.

I'm pretty new to vCenter, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

If you install a new vCenter Server, it will not automatically add your hosts and virtual machines. You will have to add your hosts to the vCenter Server. See the vCenter Server and Host Management guide for more information. The information you are looking for is in chapter 8 Organizing Your Inventory.

I don't have the option to "Add a host".  Whenever I click on something, it turns into a "NO" sign (red circle with crossing line).

Hmmm.  Questions:

1. Youre logged in as user administrator@vsphere.local ?

2. If you check VAMI  https://vcsaip:5480 and logged in as user root everything is green?

Back to the WebClient/vSphere Client(HTML5) ....

Under the vcsa entry you have to create a "tree". So you have to add a virtual datacenter entry first. If needed create a folder now(leave it away) and following by a virtual cluster entry if you plan to add more than one host.

Hosts only can add under Datacenter and Cluster level but IIRC not directly under the vCenter. Other than that i can imagine what you do wrong right now.

Joerg

I am logged as administrator@vsphere.local.

If I log into the vcsaip:5480, everything is green (Ok).

Services are running.

I already have a datacenter that was created using Platform Services Controller.  Still, no options to "Add host".  :S

I have installation with external and embedded PSC but i cant remember that you can create a datacenter there... anyway.

Please select the Host&Cluster view within Webclient. The new HTML 5 Client is different and also works different in some ways..

You can see a datacenter named "Rekem" and a Cluster named "CL01". If you select these entries and pressing right click there must be a working "Add Hosts". Yes the screenshot (Thx to gabesvirtualworld.com)  is from an older version but nothing changed on the left tree.

If working with the new vSphereClient please attach some screenshots.

Joerg

😕  I deleted the ESXi hosts and re-created everything.  This time with the embeded PSC.  before I was using external PSCs.  Now it's working.
