Hi,
I'm looking for a solution to monitor the workload of the Host-Cache. I just set up a Samsung 512 GB SSD for host Cache. Best would be a possibility to do this via the shell (SSH) because I'm a blind ESXi admin and the performance graphs at the vSphere webclient aren't accessible for me.
Greetings from germany
Steve
Does the MEM overcommit average
MEM overcommit avg: 0.25, 0.25, 0.25
in esxtop say something out about the Host Cache Usage?
If you use "V" in esxtop there is %SWPWT for every single running VM. I assume as long as its showing 0% the VM doesnt need swap and so your Hostcache isnt in use.

Did you set up vSphere Flash Read Cache for VMs or did you configure Host Cache Swap? Those things are completely different. Host Cache Swapping would be used only when there's overcommitment, if you are not overcommitting on memory then it is not going to be used in the first place. vSphere Flash Read Cache would be used, but is that what you configured?
