Virtual machines that disappear in the Workstation library

Hi everyone, I have a problem regarding the Workstation Pro 15 library.

The virtual machines are stored in several folders. When I finish using the machines (turn off or suspend the machines) and close Workstation, and again open the application, the library where the folders with their machines were disappear.

There's a solution?

I have tried to reinstall Workstation 15 and I have tried to install other previous versions, and the same thing happens.

It does not store folders with their virtual machines in the library.

As they disappear every time I close and open the application, I must manually open the machines ..

Attached images.

Before closing the application:

After closing and starting the application (Where is the folder with your machines?):

I hope you can help me and thank you.

Welcome to the Community,

as a first step please start VMware Workstation in elevated mode (right click -> "Run as Administrator") to see if it work this way, i.e. whether it is a file/folder permission issue.

Hello, I use Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS, how can I raise the administrator permissions for Workstation?

Sorry, this will certainly not work 😉

I assumed that you were running VMware Workstation on WIndows.

And for ubuntu how is it solved?
Where could I check the problem?

Not sure about a Linux host,  so this is more of a guess.

In Windows the inventory is stored in a user specific inventory.vmls.

Please check whether you can find such a file in your user's data (likely the home path), and check the permissions for this file.

It's a little weird ... I recently did not have that problem and now it has that problem.

I will ask in an Ubuntu forum about this problem if someone knows how to solve the problem.

Thanks for your help André.

Look at and try the workaround specified in the Player 15.x release notes "Known Issues". Without that setting, the previously opened VM(s) does not stay in the Library.

1. Look in ~.vmware

and

2. Edit/Preferences/Workspace/Virtual Machines/remember opened tabs

The option has been activated since I installed it.

The problem persists, and I think it is a problem of the vmware application because it also occurs with the versions prior to Workstation 15.

Can you see any errors in the "Vmware Installer 2.1" installation?

Of course I fail my Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS can not be because it is perfect.

Hi all, today I did a factory reset installing Ubuntu 18.10 by pendrive and I installed again Workstation 15 to verify that it did not give the library failure, and the problem has been fixed.

You can now solve the problem.

Thank to all for the help.
