vcsa command

How do I operate on vcsa command screen. I want to change ip. Why can't I process on the command line

Hi,

You need to type "shell" and enter to the command line mode and perform the edit tasks.

Alternatively you can also use the procedure shown in the below link to edit settings.

Edit the DNS and IP Address Settings of the vCenter Server Appliance

You don't need to change the IP. I can tell from your screenshot that you've not deployed this appliance correctly. You must delete it and deploy with CORRECT values.

why should I re-install? someone else did it. can you explain to me why I need to set up? maybe I can learn nice things from you

Two reasons I know you need to re-install:

  1. If you deployed vCSA properly you don't need to re-IP it. The IP is assigned during deployment.
  2. The shell session reports the hostname as photon-machine. This hostname is only assigned if you didn't install vCSA properly.

You need to redeploy correctly.

The problem with the deployment is it was deployed incorrectly to start, not that some process simply failed to connect to "service".
