Why can't I register vcenter?

i get this error after continuing after the cert message "

The certificate with thumbprint [35:FC:9C:D8:E0:3D:CA:FB:29:73:B9:5F:0B:88:D5:01:79:27:34:A3], provided by your vCenter is not valid due to error: "sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target"

Press "CONTINUE" if you would like to proceed adding the vCenter with invalid certificate.

"

Couldn't create collection task to test endpoint. -> java.lang.RuntimeException: Couldn't login the client. -> Couldn't login the client. -> General failure. -> Internal server error

i have rebooted skyline, checked DNS, and even rebooted vcenter for good measure. What can I do?

Hello nricat,

Welcome to Communities,

We can easily resolve by using the Custom SSO configuration while adding vCenter Server as an Endpoint you may need to expand the SSO configuration and provide the required URL's along with the custom SSO domain (vsphere.local)

Option 1 ) Using IP address of vCenter & PSC [ Use Option 2 if you receive an error ]

Using IP address of vCenter & PSC .png

Option 2 ) Using FQDN of vCenter & PSC

Using FQDN of vCenter & PSC.png

Let us know if you need additional information 'or' have any other questions that I can help with.

i left out that i had tried that too without success. i'm all about getting things to work, but a workaround like this doesn't make a lot of sense. it's clearly half baked right out of the box.
