Where do you download vSphere Client 6.7u1? (Part of one of the products? Free or not? What's the deal here?)

So... I've been at this mess for the last few hours. What I want is REALLY simple. I REALLY like the WebUI. But I'd also like the flexibility of using the vSphere Client. Sooo...

WHERE IS IT!?

Based on my currently-installed version, past logic would dictate that the installer filename would be something akin to "VMware-viclient-6.7.0-10302608.exe" but NOWHERE can I find it or any approximation to it.

There is clearly a whole lot of confusion revolving around this. It's also, apparently, part of one of the other vSphere/ESXi/VMWare products you can install... But it's really overly-complicated. (Despite several websites out there touting the new functionality of the Client in 6.7u1...)

I'm not dumb. Hell... I'm a data center engineer. (Which kind of just makes all of this somewhat infuriating/insulting.) I just want to install the damn vSphere Client on my Windows desktop. This seems like a lot to ask, however.

Someone PLEASE definitively/meaningfully SORT and SUMMARIZE this mess?

(Please note that I asked a question that begs a helpful answer. I do not care what YOU 'think' I should be doing or what anyone regards as 'best practices', etc. I want what I want.)

Seriously, though... Thanks in advance to anyone who can help here.

I think that I've finally stumbled upon a realization... There simply is no desktop-based client any longer.

This is a screenshot from a YouTube video called " vSphere 6.7 - How to install and configure VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.7 (VCSA) - YouTube "

The documentation I've been perusing is not clear on this, however... HTML5, etc, etc... Yes. I figure "browser" but there is such a fine line between different types of applications these days that it didn't really register until now...

Is this the actual case? Is there truly no installer EXE to be had?

The old #C vSphere client was freezed with version 5.5 and after vSphere 6.0 that piece of software was retired and replace by WebGUIs

ESXi = HostClient

vCenter = WebClient (Flash/Flex based)

vCenter= HTML5

Just point your Browser to https://<ipaddress>:443.  IIRC they use the name vSphere Client again for the HMTL5 vCenter version. The HTML5 version will replace the Flex one because it hase no dependancy on a plugin like Flash which will died soon and is only available on Windows. With vSphere 6.7ua the HTML contains 101% of all features. The Certificate MGMT is only available in the HTML5 i think.

Joerg
