we dont have enterprise license to enable DRS in our cluster, however we are keep getting an error about imbalanced resource usage and manually we are balancing.
is there a way to do powercli to balance across the cluster?
What is that error about imbalanced resource usage you are getting?
And how do you balance manually?
In other words what exactly do you look at and what actions do you take?

im doing vmotion from high usage to low usage.
there is no error but we see CPU & memory usage is high alerts for half of the hosts in that cluster.
my request:
when i give input name as clustername, we should be able to balance the VMs across the cluster wtih memory and cpu usage as balanced.
Just to make sure I start from the right assumptions.
What exactly are you looking at?
I assume CPU and memory consumption per ESXi node. But over what interval? The last minute, 5 minutes...?
Do you take other metrics into account? For example datastore latency, network latency...

Happy New Year!
Sorry for late response!
Yes, i mainly concentrate on CPU & memory in last 5min or anytime(during the time of script execution).
it will be great if we can have network and datastore latency too.
To limit the number of vMotions, I assume you want to move the biggest consumers (VMs) first?
After a number of vMotions I assume you want to let the environment stabilise for a moment?
Which messages do you react upon with a number of manual vMotions?
I suppose the script shall do the same?

For me, i am not much worried about number of vmotions. all i need is proper balance in the cluster instead of one host with high usage and another one with less.
What about the 2nd question?
Which messages do you react upon?
