Which Win10 build are you using?

Hi, we are now running Windows 8.1 Linked clones on Horizon 7.0.3.

We are starting on creating a Windows 10 image - which build do you recommend?

Would you upgrade to latest Horzion version and choose the latest build or are you running 1607 LTSB and stick to this version until next time MS releases a LTSB? Pros/cons?

We are using latest App Volumes version and will implement UEM on Win10 image. We are also using Trend Micro Deep Security agent.

Supported version of Windows 10 on Horizon Agent:

We initially deployed with Win 10 1703 CBB / Semi-Annual Channel. I pushed for LTSB but the organization would not allow it as we need Edge and some of the other features not available in LTSB. We are starting to test and will eventually migrate to Windows 10 1809.

My understanding if you want office you can't use the LSTB branches.

We are using LTSB. The next update for it is coming soon.

I've heard that before, but I have successfully deployed Office 2016 on LTSB with no issues.

1607 LTSB. I am thinking about going to the next long term already because Autodesk 2019 is having so many issues. It might work better with a newer OS is my thinking. LTSC is already available.

We are using 1709 because our Elec Medical Record vendor doesn't support anything newer with the version of their app we are currently on.  Whatever version you use run the VMware OS Optimization Tool to remove the stupid things you don't want/need, i.e. store apps and such.

We transitioned to Enterprise 1607 LTSB with Office 365 Pro Plus about 8 months ago after being on the Current Branch, and are much more stable after adopting LTSB.

Thanks for the response - I've been testing a linked clone pool with 1607 LTSB for a while and what I liked about it is that Edge and Store are removed. We will give the users other browser with App Volumes.

For those of you using Office 365 I guess you have customized it with UEM and use cached Exchange mode? How do you handel the .OST file? Mine is 2GB.

We use 1607 LTSB, instant-clones, load the alternate browser(s), Acrobat Reader, and O365 in the master image (to minimize the small but measurable app-stack login-time penalty for our base users who don't need any app-stacks to be applied), and disable exchange caching (eliminating the need to manage the .ost in UEM and the penalty of having to store it).

Interesting Mark - have you experienced any latency problems in Outlook 365 running in online mode? We have 1 Gbps bandwidth to internet from Horizon desktops.

Have you also disabled Windows Search on master image?
