    xdg-open for vmrc uri lost

    PenguinJeff Novice

A while back when upgrading my system my desktop decided to drop the action for xdg-open on the vmrc uri.

So the other day I had to rebuild my desktop and found it working.

So I thought it would be nice to have it documented on what xdg-open should do.

I found when I open the vmrc uri I have the following command running

      /usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmrc <vmrc_uri>

      vmrc_uri should look like this:

and if xdg-open doesn't work properly you should see a webpage open with the vmrc uri which you could add that as an argument to

/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmrc command on the command line yourself to start your session.

That should be easy enough to fix next time my desktop stops working.

/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmrc should be installed with the VMware-Remote-Console-10.0.3-9300449.x86_64.bundle

or the latest VMware-Remote-Console bundle that you should be able to find on Vmware's site easy enough.
