Hi All
Please be patient with me I am new to vmware and I have a scenario which I need a solution for.
I have 2 hosts (nodes) and a SAN and I'm required to configure HA but am not sure on the tools required.
I've setup ESXI 6.7 evaluation on the 2 nodes and they are ready to go.
But I'm unsure where to go from here;
Do i need vCenter hence another node for 3 way setup
Do I use vSAN in this scenario
I'm really unsure any assistance and instructions would be great.
Thank you kindly
Hi,
Yes you need to install a vCenter, create cluster, add the two nodes in to a cluster, create vMotion networks and enable HA/DRS in the cluster settings.
Then your hosts will be in HA cluster.
Regards,
Does vCenter need to be on an isolated machine, or can I install it on one of the nodes, add the LUN then move it into there so its part of HA?
Hi,
Yes, it can be on one of the nodes.
Regards,
Thank you very much Raj for your help.
I ended up setting up vCenter on one of the nodes. Created the cluster and added the 2 nodes. I then enabled vSphere HA and DRS.
Didn't appear to work, the other node didn't pick up the vm.
Does that concept actually work? or there has to be a 3rd physical terminal for the witness?
Hi,
You need to follwo some minimum requriements and configurations to set HA and DRS, find the below checklist, guide and configure accordingly:
