Try to deregister the VM and then register it.
Also, there is an option to create a new VM using old VMDK.
Do not forget to make a backup before doing something with storage.

You deleted the new VM completely from disk ? or just from inventory ?
Do you have a back up taken of old machine before you do some thing with VM .
