Hello everybody,
I want to monitor the VCSA using SNMP agent and i don't understand the results :
- In the VCSA (vcsa.png)
- With vimtop :
Memory: | 16423592KB total | 8728016KB used | 558404KB free | 605092KB buffs |
Swap: | 27254776KB total | 52264KB used | 27202512KB free | 6532080KB cached |
Vmalloc: | 33554431MB total | 0MB used | 33554431MB free | 0MB chunk |
- In vCenter (vcenter.png)
- With SNMP : Storage 'Real Memory' Usage Total: 15.66 GB Used: 15.12 GB (96.56%) Free: 551.99 MB (3.44%)
I'm not very familiar with linux RAM usage, but it seem me that we have "active memory" or something like that ?
What metric is relevant to use ?
Thank you
Sam
Hello, we have the same problem with VCSA 6.5, the different memory usage in SNMP and vimtop/monitor tools.
From SNMP agent we have 99% memory utilization and from vimtop / Appliance Management tools ~75-80%...
Also vimtop displayed incorrect free memory value. Check screenshot in attache:
Total 10230396 KB
Used 7261920 KB
Free 153496 KB
10230396 - 7261920 = 2968476 and this value is not equal to 153496 KB of displayed free memory in vimtop.
