Issues Using VMWare Workstation to Connect to Remote ESX VMs

Hey Guys -

I recently set up a new, small vCenter environment which is comprised of 3 ESXi 6.7 servers.  I primarily access the vCenter web console via my workstation which also has VMWare Workstation 14.1.3 installed.  When choosing to "Open Remote Console" to a VM, it launches VMWare Workstation and connects through it which from what I've seen is by design.  I'm having a couple of issues with this, however; so wanted to post to get other's thoughts...

My Issues

I've experience both of the below on multiple workstations...

  • Copy / Paste - I cannot copy / paste between my local workstation and the VM I'm accessing.  VMWare Tools is installed on the VMs and up to date.  I can successfully copy/paste if using a local VM (built in workstation), but not when its used to connect to ones hosted in vCenter.
  • Blank Tabs - When connecting to a remote VM in Workstation, iot obviously opens a new tab towards the top.  About 30% of the time when connecting to a remote VM, it successfully connects but the tab is blank.  I also cannot right click on the tab to get a context menu or close it.

So - does anyone have a solution for both / either issue?  Perhaps I should use a different app to connect to the vCenter VMs?  If so, how do I change the default which vCenter uses?  As long as the solution isn't to use a web console! Smiley Happy

Thanks!
