Hi
I have search and I have found some people like me looking for some cheap SATA card that works with wmware.
What I understand that is after a upgrade (I Think it was 5.0 or maybe 5.5) wmware did remove support for some SATA card that was working with the generic drivers.
My server is a old workstation that I use for fun and to host some of my servers that I run at home so I do not look for any fast tranfer or that. I just like to add two of my last 3TB 5400rpm disk,
I have look in the wmware list VMware Compatibility Guide - I/O Device Search and that is alot that still have support in 6.5
I do have a old RAID card but to bad that Vmware can't find it. then I did buy Another card that was going to work but the bracket that send to me was low profile and somehow I can't get it to work.
I don't care if that is a old one, I just want it to work with Wmware 6.5
My computer have
PCIe 2.0x1 slot
PCIe 2.0/3.0x16 slot
PCI slot
free to use.
Do someone can give me any idea what to buy, have no problem to buy from ebay
Dell Perc H310 (LSI 2008 chipset) is a common card used, quite cheap on eBay and supports IT mode if that's wanted.
kindly provide the make and model of the new card which you purchase
Ahh ok going to look for that
PCI Express SAS Sata RAID Interface Card LSI SAS3041E
I did not have any port that I can use.
The LSI 9240-8i (Perc H310) is PCIe 8x, it will fit in a PCIe x16 slot.
