update manager not downloading

I upgraded from a physical server vCenter 5.1 to a virtual appliance version 6.5. I tried to scan an esxi server to see if it needed any patches and got an error "VMware vSphere update manager has an unknow error. check events and log files for details" So I go to events and see the exact same error no explanation, system logs - nothing, tasks and events nothing. So I tried to download patches from the download manager and got this. Could not download virtual appliance upgrade meta data for http://vapp-updates.vmware.com/vai/catalog.index.xml

Good morning.

I would do the following:

1. Confirm VCSA can reach  the esxi host on ping
2. Confirm VCSA can reverse lookup ip address of esxi host.
3. Confirm esxi host can reach VCSA .
4. you could download offline updates and import to VUM repository.
5. Make your baseline

If these checkout am sure you are good to go.
