Virtual Machine Metrics

Mem|NUMA Remote Latest

Non-uniform memory access Remote (Kb).

Key: mem|numa.remote_latest

Mem|NUMA Local Latest

Non-uniform memory access Local (Kb).

Key: mem|numa.local_latest

Mem|NUMA Migrations Latest

Non-uniform memory access Migrations (number).

Key: mem|numa.migrations_latest

Mem|NUMA Locality Average

Non-uniform memory access Locality (%).

Key: mem|numa.locality_average

Thanks for the help.

Best regards

Davy

Hi

The following metrics are disabled . This means that they do not collect data by default. You can enable these metrics in the Policy work space.

Steps to enable those from policy is described clearly in below doc:

vROPS 6 – How to Enable Hidden Metrics and Properties | VMignite.com

Policy Workspace Collect Metrics and Properties

Please consider marking this answer as "correct" or "helpful" if you think your questions have been answered.

These metrics are disabled by default for virtual machines. Enable these metrics in the policy.

Hello Rick,

thanks for your reply to this case, we implemented the changes you advised and waited for one day, but the NUMA metrix are not visible in neither vm nor host.

Those metrics are not exposed yet with vCenter SDK and hence not available in vrops (enabling/disabling in policy will have no effect). Please open a SR and ask to raise a PR request to make this metrics available. This will help to priorities this feature internally

So you're saying the metrics which are present in the screenshot above don't actually work if enabled?? Why on earth would they be there in the first place? Or have I misunderstood something?

Metrics are not supposed to work, it will be vcenter to deliver them and that is exactly what not happening. Long story short - NUMA metrics are not available in vROps now, this may or may not change in the future. If you feel that thosm etrics are required - I would recommend to open a SR.

What I'm asking though is why does vROps list four metrics which cannot be delivered by vCenter. You say

NUMA metrics are not available in vROps now

so why are these metrics in vROps to begin with? Either I'm missing something, or this is incredibly stupid.

For example, to allow us to have this nice discussion) You might treat them as artifacts if you want. I'm not in charge of the product and can only answer the question why these metrics are not appearing on VMs/hosts after being enabled in policy.

Ok, understood. Any way that sunnydua201110141 (vROps product manager) will be good enough to give us an answer?

Hi All,

Saw this thread now... These metrics were added into vROps since they were planned to release in a version of vCenter to be gathered through vROps. Unfortunately, they were never released by vCenter and hence vROps does not collect them. I am working with the vCenter team to have these metrics enabled in vCenter so that vROps can capture and show them in future releases. To avoid confusion we will have them cleaned up from vROps in the upcoming releases till we have full support from vCenter.

Were these NUMA metrics ever exposed via vCenter?
