Convert V2V from Xen to Vmware ESXi 6.7

Dear All,

Today i'm process convert from V2V from Xen 7.2 to Vmware ESXi 6.7 use Vmware converter standalone, My virtual machine is Windows 2012 std ,but after convert finished

my virtual machine (windows 2012 std )  have issue " Your PC ran into  a problem and needs to restart .We're just collecting some error info, and then you can restart(0% complete).

if you'd like to know more , you can search online later for this error : SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"

all step i'm process before convert.

- Remove Xen tool

- Remove xen driver in computer management

-Remover xen file file on " windows \System32\drivers'"

- Remove reristry

  • Remove HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96a-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\UpperFilters
  • Remove HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96a-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\UpperFilters

But my windows can't boot ,But i can boot  into "Safe mode"  nomally

Please help me.

if you can boot to safe mode, then the issue is one of drivers.  can you attempt a repair on the environment.

Check which SCSI-controller is assigned to the VM.
Reconfigure the VM so that LSI-SAS is used.
When that is done - rerun the "Configure machine" of Converter.

Use StarWind V2V Converter to cover Xen VM to ESXi VM.

Now, I'm working with this issue. I have applied all methods on the internet.

Source of the problem is Citrix Xentool version.

Probably you are trying xentools 6.5.x and older version installed VMs. If upgrade to 7.1.x tools it will be working fine with below known method.

After convert;

safe mode > enable msiserver > remove tools > remove drivers (also hidden)> remove registry records starts with xen* (hklm\currentcontrolset1\services and 2) > reboot.
