There are two ways to run p2v conventer.
A. install p2v at the server that I want to convert and select local machine as an option.
B. install p2v at a desktop and select remote machine as an option.
I wonder which one runs faster and reliable. Can someone advise?
Also if I convert dc, do I need to turn off any services? or shall I just make sure to power off the physical dc as soon as the convention finish? Any advice on this?
Thank you very much!
Hello,
Regarding P2V, I prefer to check the following: VMware P2V Migration: Importing Virtual Machines into VMware ESXi Part 1 | Pluralsight
Regarding DC conversion, if using Hot Migration no need to turn off any services. because the changes on DC not like an SQL or email .....etc.

Hi
The best way is to not convert an existing one DC. Spin up a new guest, join to the domain and then promote it. Then demote the physical host.
Check if the following VMware KB article helps: VMware Knowledge Base
