Is 39.5% for MAIL2 means it has 39.5% left to complete and 487.5GB has been backed up so far?

Its scanned bytes.

I think its calculated this way.

If you have 100 GB of disk with 60GB used, the backup would effectively be 60GB, but the complete 100GB is scanned. And the progress is updated accordingly.
