vCSA 6.5 - What are my options for running standalone update manager

Hi

Recently migrated from Windows / vCenter 6.0 to vCSA 6.5.

The installation is not connected to the Internet.  With 6.0, we used standalone Update Manager Download Service (UMDS).  Can we continue to use this and will it happily download 6.5 updates even though it's version 6.0?

Thanks

UMDS is bundled with VCSA 6.5.

You can use the UMDS bundle from the vCenter Server Appliance to install UMDS 6.5 on a separate Linux-based system.

Installing and Upgrading UMDS on a Linux-Based Operating System

Installing UMDS on a Windows Operating System

You cannot upgrade UMDS 5.5 or UMDS 6.0 to UMDS 6.5. You can perform a fresh installation of UMDS 6.5 according to all system requirements, and use an existing patch store from UMDS 5.5 or UMDS 6.0. You can install UMDS only on 64-bit machines.

OK thanks for the info.  I have installed UMDS 6.5 onto a standalone 64bit Windows server.

I've set-up the download location and configured UMDS to download ESXi and Appliance patches using:

vmware-umds -S --enable-host --enable-va

However, Looking at this, it is downloading 5.5, 6.0 & 6.5  I am only interested in 6.5 version of files.  Is there a way to tell UMDS to only download patched for 6.5?

Thanks

I don't have access to UMDS at the moment.

Please try:

vmware-umds -S -d embeddedEsx-5.5.0 embeddedEsx-6.0.0

Then check the settings:

vmware-umds -G
