3rd display mirrors other two displays

I am having an issue with VMWare Fusion Professional Version 10.1.2 (8502123). The host system is MacOS High Sierra 10.13.3 and guest system is Ubuntu 16.04.

I have the following monitor setup:

  1. MacBook Pro Display (High Sierra)
  2. DELL UW monitor (USB-C)
  3. HP ZR24w (VGA via USB-C adapter)

When I plug in my DELL monitor into my MacBook, extending the Ubuntu desktop works perfectly well. However, when I plug in the HP monitor, the HP monitor does not extend the desktop further. It actually mirrors the other two monitors, all at once on one screen.

The problem went away after completely shutting down the instance and starting it, not just "rebooting" it. I should take the instructions more literal next time. After that, the whole screen was a little messed up (resolution, broken screen elements, etc.) but after logging out and back into Ubuntu that was fixed too. Now all three screens are recognized and have the correct arrengements and resolutions

Is there a software setting you can switch to go from 'mirror' to 'extend'?

OR do you try that and it doesn't respect the 'extend' mode?

How much graphic memory have you assigned?

Also worth updating the guest;

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Hi Mikero!

In Ubuntu, there is a mirror functionality, however, it is turned off. It is actually extending two screens, just not the third. It looks like the third is not even recognized.

Furthermore, I noticed this VMWare error message on my screen. (I followed the instructions but not success)
