Hi,
maybe one of you have an Idea:
Some Informations about the Infrastructure:
vSphere 6.5
Horizon View 7.5
Horizon Agent 7.5.1
VMware Tools: 10.3.0
Problem is the roaming of the profiles doestn work. I can put files on the desktop and after log out / login (after logoff, refresh of the desktop) everything is gone.
I added an export of the Persona GPO. Maybe you see something whats wrong.
I added also the VMWVvp and VMWVvp_status.
I found already this discussion here: Windows 10, Persona Folder Redirection - Unavailable
Thank you for any Idea / tip / trick.
Best regards
Sven-Jendrik
Hi Sven-Jendrik
What release of Windows 10 are you deploying?
We currently have a large persona based vdi deployment in an educational environment, Horizon 7.5 & vSphere 6.5. We have been testing a number of different Windows 10 releases and have experienced issues when using agent 7.5 and 7.5.1. Our production deployment is Windows 10 1607, agent 7.4 and tools 10.2.1, no issues are experienced.
What we have found when updating the agent to 7.5 (7.5.1) we find a number of issues were sycronisation does not appear to work with appsdata\local and appsdata\locallow.
Currently we have tested the following
Reference supported OS VMware Knowledge Base
I would recommend trying agent 7.4 for persona deployments.
Cheers
David.
Hi,
we use sadly Windows 10 64Bit Enterprise 1803 .
So I can't use the 7.4 agent.
Same issue as we are experiencing.
I was hoping 7.5.1 would address the issue but unfortunately no luck and
Microsoft have issues too with roaming profiles in general. The Microsoft
update release on Tuesday KB4340917 which actually mentioned the fix but we have
again no luck.
VMware – Windows 10 1803 Tech Preview
Supported only. I actually logged a support ticket with VMware about this.
Some info.

is the issue in profiles, or user data?
what about Microsoft Folder redirection ,did you try it ?
Thank you! So looks so that we need to wait
VMWare Horizon Agent 7.5 agent needs " Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider " service on your Parent VM. Please check if its disabled
We tried that really early on "Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider" service enabled, no luck at all. waiting for new agent to be release to support Windows 1803 offically.
Try Agent 7.6 which was just released, so far I am getting positive results testing 7.6 and persona.
I have 1803 and tried with both Agents, 7.5.1 and 7.6. Roaming works with both but the Start menu breaks. No tiles and almost no programs. I cannot find any documentation that states whether or not 7.6 supports 1803.
Does the start menu work?
1803 is supported on 7.5 and 7.5.1. I would assume compatibility with 7.6.0 and they just haven't updated the KB article yet.
1803 was officially supported with 7.5/7.5.1.
I see that now, thanks Ben. I still cannot get the start menu to roam with persona so I have failed back to windows roaming profiles which still works.
While VMware have recently changed the offical support (agent 7.5, 7.5.1 & 7.6) from Windows 10 1803 Tech Preview to Windows 10 there are still indentified problems when using Persona, we have logged two tickets and as recent as last week. Vmware support have acknowledged they have received a large number of calls with persona not working correctly and have advised to use Windows 10 1607 with agent 7.4.
Update - when using agent 7.6 we are still experericing the problem with the profile writing to the persona share, (On logoff the persona synchronisation is not locking the vm when coping the data to the persona share). Try turning off pool settings refresh and delete on loggoff on the connection server.
Thanks for the update. Good to know it is not just me! I am on a tight deadline to get this all working by the start of fall quarter in a week or so, (we are an .edu) so I'll stick with the Windows Roaming for now and revisit Persona later.
