Vmware Workstation 14 - Auto Start Issues

Hi All,

I have been struggling to get to the bottom of an issue with the Auto Start feature on Vmware Workstation 14 - I am running version 14.1.2 build-8497320

The issue I have is that when I perform a cold boot from a shutdown state, the VM's do not Auto Start.

However, if the system is rebooted the VM's start automatically without any issue every time.  Not sure if windows handle the boot of a system from a shutdown state differently compared a reboot but I cannot see why it should - it's just a normal boot of the system.

Has anyone else seen this and if you have any tips for fixing the issue?

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Rick,

Thank you for your reply but i think you have missed what I said.

I have the VM's to auto Start already - when I reboot the host system they boot Automatically as i would expect.  However, when the host system starts from a cold (shutdown) state, they do not start.

Best,

Dave

Dear Dave,

I am facing the same problems as you with VMWare Workstation Pro 15.0.4 under Windows 10.

A shared VM set to AUTOSTART is only starting automatically when I reboot the system. It is NOT starting automatically when the system gets powered on.

Could you find a solution for this issue?

Thanks in advance,

Nikola

Hello,

did you find solution for this? I have the same problem and its literally frustrating each time starting the VM after the boot even if it is set to do so. I have also workstation 14. I am thinking of doing some script which would run the machine with REST api, which is available for Workstation Pro.
