I'm have problems with copying or syncing large VM's from a workstation to a server. Some of them fail due to windows cache size or just stop.
I have the VM's on an external drive from a previous Windows 7 workstation. I would like to have these VM's on my Windows Deployment Server for imaging purposes. So far I've tried Robocopy and Filesync with no success.
Lots of questions ....
- "to server" ? - is the server an ESXi ?
- which tools did you try so far ?
- do you power the VMs off before you try ?
My favorite tool to get large files from or to ESXi is ddrescue: can be resumed when it aborts and does something useful if it runs into errors.

Welcome to the Community,
It may be worth a try to temporarily disable A/V on the server. At least for real time scans of *.vm* files.

Thanks so much for your response I'm looking into this now your response also have me looking into other alternatives.
Thanks for your response, I've taken care of the A/V issue, looking into alternative copy or cloning style apps. Thanks again!
