NSX License

I have 2 questions regarding the NSX Stretched network.

If i have 2 Sites Main and DR site and there is a dark fibre cable between them, Each site contains 14 Dual Socket servers for production and 2 Single socket Servers for management, the questions are:

  • Do I need NSX Licenses for each socket for the DR site or only for the Main Site?
  • Do I need NSX Licenses for the Management servers in each site or not and why?

If the workload is only active in the Primary DC, then it is required to license only the Primary DC site.

In the management cluster if you are not going to use NSX features like VXLAN & DFW it is fine not to license the Management cluster with NSX.

In this case you should have only the NSX Manager & the NSX controllers in the management cluster.
