Horizon 7.5 24/7 Availablity?

Is there a way / guide on how to set up Horizon 7.5 connection server(s) in a failover configuration?

Our organization has users connected 24/7 and it would be nice to be able to have automatic failover.

The problem is when the server needs a reboot or updates we can't  have users get kicked out.

You have a few options. The UAG and connection servers can be configured for HA with a load balancer. However, you'll still be dependent on a single vCenter and if you use linked clones composer server.

The alternative would be a Cloud Pod Architecture (CPA) deployment where you have two independent deployments that you link together. This really only works if you have non-persistent desktops.

1. Get a load balancer and create a VIP for the connection server cluster. Typically you want to have at least 2 nodes (one standard, one replica).

2. Rebooting a server wont kick people out necessarily. Depends on your deployment but generally speaking the brokers are only needed for authentication and establishing a connection.

Is there any documentation on this process? I was not able to locate any.

Sadly rebooting our connection server does seem to lock up any active sessions. Is there something I can change to not have that happen?

If that's the case you have tunneling enabled on the connection server (this is the default configuration). You can disable tunneling but you will need to ensure that the appropriate firewall rules are in place for your clients to talk to the agents.

Optimally you want two unified access gateways behind your load balance address. If you setup the tunneling menntioned the UAGs are the only server needed for a connection. If you have two or more you  can put the ones you need to sort of a maintance mode. This allows current sessions at most 10 hours to finish what they are doing and after that denies any more Look at page 16 on this
