Horizon macOS client not working with Smart cards

I have read about the issue with keychain and having to close them both or reboot. No matter the combination it will never read the smart card. I have tried installing the centrify app, I can get in through safari but the client never seems the certs or smart card. It has been this way since January.

I know I responded to your last post about the smartcards on Macs and just wanted to reiterate

Apple deprecated Tokend from Apple Operating Systems and replaced it with CTK. I was told the only workaround for using smartcard on Macs is to use a middleware like Charismathics (CSSI_5.0.3_PIV) on the Mac client and Charismathics (CSTC PIV 5.2.2) on the agent machine to make PIV cards work. There is a feature request to use CTK in a future release of the Mac Client but there is no ETA at this point (latest update: they are starting to work on this in a very early pre-beta with a customer)

If you using Centrify app, please disable PIVToken by below command line from Terminal.app.

  • sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.security.smartcard DisabledTokens -array com.apple.CryptoTokenKit.pivtoken
