VM's not working after PC shutdown

Hi all,

So I am new to this site, but have some experience with Vbox and not VMWare. So here's my issue. First I'm running vmware pro 14.1.2 build-8497320. Last night I created 2 VM's (Kali and Parrot Linux both Debian distros) which were working perfectly when I shut down my PC. To get to this point took me a few weeks on and off tweaking things in the CLI. anyways. So I boot up my PC and try to spin up the 2 VM's I created last night and I get nothing. So i go through the standard things restarting the PC and vmware, still nothing. So i delete the VM's I created last night and re-install them and I am still getting nothing when they try and spin up.

So how does 2 working VM's last night not work today? I'm baffled by this and i don't know what how to resolve this?

I appreciate any input and wonder if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks

Welcome to the Community,

did you check the log files (VMware, and System logs) to see whether thy contain any hints?

Did you try to open the VMs' console, and start the VM from there to see whether it shows some details?

Andre, Thanks for your input. I did check the log from what I could see there didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary. With that said the log file only went up to yesterday and I won't lie, I'm not exactly sure what I am looking for. But from my little experience with log files, nothing seemed wrong (but I could be wrong). Secondly, I did try to open the VM from the console and it still did not work. I'm just so baffled that it worked then the only thing I did was shut down the PC and then when I tried to spin them back up nothing. and FYI, they're still not working today. I have even tried deleting the whole VM and starting fresh, but still not working. I also tried to load the VM from the last working session snapshot and that didn't work either.

That's strange. What's the Host OS on which you have VMware Workstation installed? Maybe some services cannot start!?
