Hello,
I am a bit new to vSphere, is there a way to download just the evaluation license without the ISO installations?
I already have VM servers and just need to check how this works?
Thanks,
Richard
The license key would be generated from the same URL where you have downloaded the ISOs which are used to install the servers you are running.

Hello,
so do I understand correctly, I need to start the download and then I will somehow recieve an evaluation license code?
Thanks,
Richard
You can use most vmware product without any license key for 60days trial period.
But using one accout on my.vmware.co you can evaluate the product only once.

Hi, I understand that, the problem is I will have to use a try-error approach to check what I can do, for example what functions are disabled, so I am not sure when I will hit a problem with a feature when using a license that has expired, and the list of features disabled is quite a long one.
Thanks for responding.
Richard
Yes, as mentioned above you can evaluate product full featured for 60 days with evaluation key.
So actually if I already have a VM host, how does the evaluation license get installed or applied? Is there any documentation or README's that come with the downloaded software?
What is the ESXI version you have. If you have a single ESXI then you can have free license for this.
I check the download page:
https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/evalcenter?p=vsphere-eval
So I will download the .ISO like VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.7.0-8169922.x86_64.iso and what do I do with it? Is there any documentation that would tell me the steps?
Thanks,
Richard
In the Help link is says "VMWare ESXI 5.5.0".
When I get the pop-up message there is a link:
I will probably have to browse around and try that before I download the .iSO, which I don't really need.
Thanks,
R.
