Uploading Files to Datastore

Hi All,

I;m trying to move a VM fron One site to another adn it's a large VM (1.2TB).  I am having a tough time for some reason.  I was abler to get on large VMDK file uploaded but the others are not going up.  There is plenty of space in the DS and after a long time it errors out.  I can upload small files but no large ones.  Tried it from the Vcenter server and from teh host both with the same outcome.  Anyone have any idea?

Thank you, Perry

Uploading to datastore (both SCP and via Client) isn't really good.

Can you try to export the VM as OVF or OVA and then import it on your new host? Should be much faster.

If you get stuck I'd first try using the ovftool

as exporting large ovfs through the interface tend to time out. I just did a 4TB one and it failed for two weeks. As another alternative is to use vpshere replication, if you set that up, you can let the virtual machine replication while its on. Then when its down shut it down and recover the VM to the other side, the original one will still be there as well.
