Could you please confirm the time set on the support assistance.
Do time match as per your time zone.
How much difference do you observe in the time.
Thanks for helping me try to solve this issue!
I've ssh'd into the VMware support assistant and I can see it's TZ is set to UTC, and it's 2 seconds behind actual time.
Set the timezone to your local time (EST/CST/PST), Check if that make any difference in the communication.
Any developments on this issue ? I'm seeing the same behavior. My time zone on the VSA matches that of my vCenter Server. Running same version and build.
Same problem too, get error on contact details tab view even if connectivity is working.
To resolve this issue, trust the proxy SSL certificate by adding the proxy's root certificate to the keystore of the vCenter Support Assistant appliance.
To add the certificate to the keystore of the vCenter Support Assistant appliance:
- Upload the SSL root certificate to /etc/ssl/certs on the vCenter Support Assistant appliance.
- Log in to the vCenter Support Assistant using SSH as root.
- Run this command to change the working directory to /etc/ssl/certs:
- Run this command to convert the certificate to the DER format:
openssl x509 -outform der -in /etc/ssl/certs/proxy_root_ssl_certificate_name.pem -out /etc/ssl/certs/proxy_root_ssl_certificate_name.der
- Run this command to add the certificate to the cacerts keystore:
/usr/java/jre1.7.0_09/bin/keytool -keystore /usr/java/jre1.7.0_09/lib/security/cacerts -import -file /etc/ssl/certs/proxy_root_ssl_certificate_name.der
Note: The password for the keystore is changeme or changeit.
- Reboot the vCenter Support Assistant.
Can you elaborate a little more on what the proxy SSL certificate is? My customer does not use a proxy and am unsure where this cert lives.
Since the Proxy server is not involved in the connectivity from vCenter to Support Assistant these can be ignored.
Could you please check if Support Assistant logs is able to capture the VMware Server IP to which it is trying to connect.

There was some certificate issue in support assistant infrastructure, URL https://vcsa.vmware.com/ph/tl/prd/monthlyemailget was not accessible. VMware resolved it today, can you please try to access Contact Details now, it might work..
It is working now for me.
