vsphere 6.5
horizon 7.5
vmtools 10279
we were on horizon 5.4 and mouse pointer was fine, now it's white while in application such as office 2013, notepad, wordpad, adobe, basically everything
mouse pointer ok when in Pool set to RDP, only happens when display protocol is PCOIP
have several different thin clients, wyse 5060, d10dp newest firmware and older versions of firmware, still mouse pointer white and difficult to see while in application
use several different display resolutions all seem to do the same thing
vmtools installed first
horizon agent second (typical install)
As the issue is related to PCOIP and you have already installed View agent, please try reaching out to teradici support on the issue as PCOIP is owned by Teradici.
I'd open a ticket with VMware support, I'm not sure why you are being referred to Teradici, pcoip is part of the agent, and the issue occurs in the latest version of the agent and not the 7.3.2 agent. From my understanding the are working on a fix. If its a problem and you can test it try downloading the 7.3.2 agent if you don't need the 7.4 features.
I will open a ticket with vmware
I had installed 7.3.2 agent but that didn't fix our mouse cursor problem
Just curious, do you have a link or did you open a ticket with vmware to find out that the current 7.4 agent was know to cause mouse cursor problems?
thanks
Many of us have the issues with the white cursor on Thinclients (we use wyse 3030) that use PCoIP with the 7.4 agent.
If any of you have an update from VMware support, please share it.
We rolled back to 7.3.2 and that resolved the issue for us.
I had previously tried version 7.3.2 on our d10dp thin clients with no luck
I went ahead and tried this again and the results were the same, white mouse cursor within applications
When I hear back from vmware I will report my findings
FYI: Dell is coming out with new firmware ver 4.5 during March
I had to roll back to 7.3.2 agent to rectify this issue. We just upgraded to 7.4.
Thanks for sharing.
Found a post on Teradici communities that fixed our issue. Sounds like a known issue with Horizon 7.4 We are having the issue in Windows 10 1703 running over PCoIP on Dell\Wyse Thin Clients.
That was my post from working with VMware support. That workaround is mostly working for us but it's not a complete fix. The recommendation is to rollback to Horizon Agent 7.3.2 or wait for the next release.
Hello,
version 7.5 is out now.
Does it solve the issue ?
Someone tested already ?
I don't see the resolved issue in releases notes. Even not as a know issue ...
Hi Rahul
We also use instant clones and some of our users are complaining about mouse responsiveness. Sometimes the instant response is not there or the performance is sluggish. (mouse cursor). Would you know if this is something to do with the display resolution or the hardware settings of the VM itself. We are using horizon 7.4, VM hardware of 2vCPU, 4 GB RAM, display resolution of 1600 x 1200 and windows 10 OS
Please advise
Hi,
I had same problem on View 7.3.2, Win 2008R2, Wyse D10DP and office 2016.
I saw same behavior on teradici communities :
Horizon 7.4 Mouse Pointer Effects Lost - Teradici
A guy fixed it by adding follow keys in regedit, it solved my problem.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware SVGA DevTap\WDDMDevAPIversion --> DWORD to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware SVGA DevTap\WDDMDevAPIversion --> DWORD to 1
Could you check if these keys exist on your golden image ?
Commands i launch before snapshot :
reg ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware SVGA DevTap" /f
reg ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware SVGA DevTap" /v WDDMDevAPIversion /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001 /f
reg ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware SVGA DevTap" /f
reg ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware SVGA DevTap" /v WDDMDevAPIversion /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001 /f
Best regards
Frédéric TM
Hello,
the registry trick is working.
But please, some can confirm the bug is no more there in version 7.5 of view ?
As VMware team said that this reg is not recommended and can cause unespected new issues.
thank you
Hello,
we just upgraded our environment. I can confirm the issue still exists.
View 7.5.1
Windows 10 (1703)
Dell Wyse ThinOS 8.5.012 with "Blast" protocol (We didn't recognized that issue when using PCoIP).
Adding the reg keys mentioned above solved the problem for us.

@trojan_82
We don't see this anymore using the Dell Wyse ThinOS 8.5.017.
If you are still seeing the problem will you try this firmware?
Running on Dell Wyse 5070 Firmware : 8.5.108 and the problem still occuring !!
