Hi All,
Could someone from NSX deploymnet team suggest the procedure of migrating existing vlans to vxlan .
this is in consideration of deploying nsx in brownfield env.
The VMware® NSX-v Brownfield Design and Deployment Guide - ver 1.2 is a great resource for this as it discusses the VMware recommended methods in detail.
Assuming you have few VLANS 100,200,300 etc . One approach is ,We need to ensure NSX environment is prepared with logical switches created for each tenant and bridge respective VLAN's with Logical Switches and migrate the workloads. However if you have a cross site setup, on universal objects you cant follow this approach, we will need site specific logical switches for migration and later to universal objects based on design(Two migration process involved). If you have plans to move gateway , routing should be configured and working.Moving workloads via bridging without disrupting the traffic is most preferred approach and later we can configure E-W and N-S routing.I would highly recommend reading migration design doc . If you have any corner cases do let me know.
Thanks sreec and ihoffer.i am reading this pdf and will surely discuss Few more points.
