VSAN Stretched Cluster and DRS

Hi everyone,

I've got a question:

I want to built a 4-node + witness VSAN Stretched Cluster ontop of vSphere 6.7. For VSAN I need Enterprise LICs, what vSphere License do I need? Is standard good enough (no DRS) or do I need Enterprise Plus (with DRS)? I found one sentence:

Readers should also be aware that vSphere DRS is needed for stretched clusters, so a vSphere license edition that supports vSphere DRS should also be considered.“

So is DRS a "must have" or a "nice to have" feature for VSAN Stretched Clusters?

THX for your support!

Cormac Hogan and Duncan Epping:

"There are no limitations placed on the edition of vSphere used for vSAN. However, for vSAN Stretched Cluster functionality, vSphere DRS is very desirable. DRS will provide initial placement assistance, and can also help with locating VMs to their correct site when a site recovers after a failure. Otherwise the administrator will have to manually carry out these tasks"
