No permisssions - Can't make the initial DATACENTER; or access some parts of vsphere

SO I've installed vcenter before so I know that it's a problem with my configuration or S/W.

I installed vcenter first on a virtual machine, then installed the VCSA and kept running intosimilar problems.

So I took a baremetal machine and installed vcenter and it seems the problem persists.

My first installation results in a single vcenter inwhich I can't make my first datacenter.

The error message is shown below: "Operation cannot be..."

I tried to add licenses which I was able to do earlier (on my first installment of vcenter) and gave me the following error.

I looked around to find out what this Global Permission was as I assumed ADMINSTRATOR@VSPHERE.LOCAL permits full authority over vsphere.

There was an article which said; I had to go into ACCESS CONTROL and create permissions by creating a new USER.

However, there is nothing visible in the ROLES area... I assume I don't have the permissions.

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

I have installed VCSA 6, VCSA 6.5, VCENTER on a VM and on baremetal.

I am desperate.

I'm wondering if you might have installed vCenter incorrectly. I'd recommend you deploy the vCSA again and screenshot each stage of the process and post them here so we can start at the beginning.

Nope... I've installed it all before, I just can't seem to do it this time.

Hardware is different... but that shouldn't be the issue.

Well, if you're running into the same problem (which is an uncommon one to begin with) on 3 different attempts, that tells me there's something fundamentally wrong here which is why I asked for your installation process. Since you basically have nothing to begin with, it shouldn't be that hard to start over from scratch and take screenshots as you go.

Can you confirm if you logged in as a local administrator account and not domain admin account

Yes sir.

Logged in as local admin.

If I'm domain admin; I have to enter a domain which results in vcenter not installing.

So it's just a local admin.

I've installed vcenter and had it work previously via ISO (Not OVA).

I have gotten the OVA to work once long time ago (i think it was 6.0) but prefer to just install it on a Windows platform.

I was searching the web regarding this issue and there seems to be quite a lot regarding this error.

However, there doesn't seem to be a single RIGHT answer; just things that people have tried and worked for them.

For example; deleting all the VMs and reinstalling the vcenter etc.

I haven't finished reading all of this but just makes me feel really annoyed that vmware is aware and there are so many people who ran into this problem.

I have finally passed 80% of the first part of my 5th installation of vcenter 6.5 and have the VM installed on my ESXI host.

Nada.... Still not working.

I'm about to change my hosts. I'm running a supermicro X10 and a DL360 gen9 for testing; and a Supermicro X9 for my vcenter installation.

About to use DL360 g8 instead. I doubt it will work but I've literally gone through the book for ways to install vcenter.

And YES. VSPHERE and VCENTER are both enterprise (paid) licenses and not trials.

Again, I ask that you post screenshots of your deployment process of the OVA and the steps within the setup wizard.
