Horizon VDI DRS and HA

While we could not find any official documentation from VMWare on DRS and HA settings for VDI (and this is not to say it does not exist) we found a few 3rd party posts on DRS where posters suggest to set DRS to conservative for the VDI cluster. The recommendation is made based on the overhead vMotion is bringing with it.

Would be very curious to know what you guys have set up in your environments (small and large) for both DRS and HA monitoring

I'd say the vMotion network has a lot to do with it but I agree that you want to limit vMotion and the impact to the end user. When we had 1 Gb NIC we lowered the DRS threshold (If you are on 1 Gb I'd recommend configuring multi-nic vMotion.). With 10 Gb NIC we leave it at the default of 3. We also prioritize performance over consolidation so outside of placing a host in maintenance mode we don't have a lot of vMotions (As an example in one of my clusters made up of 9 hosts and 1,000 VMs we've only had 9 vMotion in the last 24 hours. All of those occurred during our nightly boot storm).
