Problem with Vmware tools 10.2 and VMware CAF Management Agent Service

Hi.

Just seeing if anyone else is having issues with Vmware 10.2 tools.

We saw across our network this service filling up our tcpip stack so no more connections could be created in our of machines, we have to restart machines via console to get them to log back into the domain or login locally and kill exe or service.

The error logging onto the Domain was "An attempt was made to logon, but the network logon service was not started"

Once we stopped the CAF Management Agent Service everything came back.

We have disabled this service via GPO a few days ago and have not seen a problem since. This is only happening on V10.2, All previous versions of VMware tools are fine.

Grant,

Have you had any luck with vmware support.  We have this ongoing issue.  I just opened a case, wondering if you had any additional info.  I am not sure the GPO fix will be an easy task for us.  Thanks

Nothing from Vmware yet. (Head in the sand)

Then I suggest you disable the service manually to fix your issue.

We have the same issue and for us, its specifically to windows 2008 R2, the handles keep increasing over time, it seems like VMwareCAFManagementAgentHost keeps opening files and connections and not closing them, our ticket has been escalated to Sev1 with 100+ Prod VM's going offline over and over. so far they have not been able to provide any fix.

workaround for us has been to restart the service every hour via a scheduled task.

if anyone finds a solution please post here.

Thanks
