do i need vds to install nsx manager and nsx controllers ( not workload)

Hi All,
I am instaling nsx.
I will use vds for vxlans and workload vms.
I am installing nsx manager and nsx controllers in a separate cluster.
Is there a requirement to have vds on the cluster, where nsx manager and nsx contollers are installed?

Thansk !

If there is a seperate Mgmt Cluster, i.e no Edges or Vxlan based VM port groups, NSX Manager and controllers could on standard vSwitch

Deploy NSX Controller Cluster

The requirement may be that NSX manager, Controllers and ESX hosts need to communicate each other  through these management pirt groups

Every flavor of NSX even if coupled with Essentials Plus comes with a vDS embedded in the NSX license. It's recommended and ever borderline required for NSX to all live on a vDS. If you can manage to get it working on a vSS more power to you, but why would you?
