Workload domains or DRS affinity groups for licence consolidation?

I'm trying to maintain optimal Windows and Linux licence density on specific hosts by not mixing my Windows and RedHat VM's.

To achieve this with VCF I could create 2 workload domains which would require 2 vCenter servers and 2 NSX Managers. I then have N+1 for each workload domain which costs me more overall in terms of resources.

If I created a single workload domain which includes all my hosts but then use DRS affinity groups to split the hosts into Windows and Linux groups and ensure my VM's are then placed on the correct hosts, this will achieve the same result but cost me less.

Are there any issues in doing this with VCF?

No issues. This is a perfectly valid approach in VCF.
