Mouse pointer jumping to the upper left corner (VMware Tools issue?)

I am not sure this is the right forum for my question.

After converting (P2V) some Windows servers I see the VM work for a short time (hours).

With no apparent reason I lose the control of the mouse, and the pointer jumps to the upper left corner of the screen.

I can move it around the screen but when I click the mouse the pointer jumps again to the upper left corner.

I can perform limited actions only using the old keyboard based functions.

I suspect the problem is related to VMware Tools, but reinstalling them does not solve the problem.
Have anybody faced similar problems?

Is there any document about thist strange behavior?

Regards

marius

If these guests are W2k8 you may look at using the WDDM driver instead.  Also, confirm the driver for the mouse is using "VMware Pointing Device"

Thank you for your message.

I forgot telling that the problem occurs on a Windows XP host with VMware Workstation 7.

Does the same solution apply to VMware Workstation?

Hi,

Try installing the vmware tools manually from the iso image.

Once I also had the same problem I use restart the machine and mouse use to work for sometime and again the problem occurs.

Just I tried installing manually due to which my problem resolved

Thanks n Regards

Hi Marius - Roma ,  this generally happen if something wrong with physical mouse , have tested with any other mouse, if the previous mouse working fine on other system please check the compatibility driver or usb tool for vmware .

If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0"

I have been having this problem with Workstation 14 ... solved it (apparently) by turning off "Accelerate 3D graphics" in the Display settings under "VM | Settings ..."

FYI. (whew)
