License for replication 5 virtuals servers

Hello all

i am new here, and hello to all from honduras.

We are try to get number to replace old 5 server Linux and windows to virtual server but we are try to make replication too.

so we are looking to have 5 virtual server with 4gb ram and 2 cores and have on the same rack another server for replication backup, in case the server come down for X reason the other can be the backup, like raid 1.

any Idea what exacly I need to buy license?

and maybe the hardware too.

For this setup you'd need vSphere with High Availability for something like this (license needed: Essential Plus).

High Availability is a technology which enables VMs to be failed over to second host in an event of a network/system/hardware failure on host.

Aside from licensing, the hosts would also need some kind of a shared storage. Depending on your budget this could be iSCSI enabled NAS or proper SAN.

This project sound really ambitious if you never worked with VMware in the past. I suggest you should consider reading through VMware documentation, attending some training or hiring a professional before making any business decisions. A good place to start is VMware vSphere
