Hi!

If you are using VMware Persona.

- Log off
- Rename profile on file server
- Log in again

This should fix your problem!

Are you on the latest version of UEM? Are you using App Volumes?

We have the same issue and I couldn't find a solution.

My work around was to add back the old Printer icon in control panel using the following registry settings. I use UEM registry task to create keys on login. I've attached the reg file that I have in UEM as well.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{D15ED2E1-C75B-443c-BD7C-FC03B2F08C17}]

@="Printers"

"InfoTip"="View all installed printers."

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{D15ED2E1-C75B-443c-BD7C-FC03B2F08C17}\DefaultIcon]

@="%SystemRoot%\\System32\\imageres.dll,46"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{D15ED2E1-C75B-443c-BD7C-FC03B2F08C17}\Shell]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{D15ED2E1-C75B-443c-BD7C-FC03B2F08C17}\Shell\Open]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{D15ED2E1-C75B-443c-BD7C-FC03B2F08C17}\Shell\Open\Command]

@="rundll32 shell32.dll,SHHelpShortcuts_RunDLL PrintersFolder"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{D15ED2E1-C75B-443c-BD7C-FC03B2F08C17}\ShellFolder]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{D15ED2E1-C75B-443c-BD7C-FC03B2F08C17}\ShellFolder\Attributes]

@=dword:00000030

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\{D15ED2E1-C75B-443c-BD7C-FC03B2F08C17}]

Hi,

we are using uem 9.2.0, but we are just using it for application settings and folder redirections. Ive tried your solution and imported the regkeys manual on a test system. The keys are available, but ive no luck. Still the same problem. Smiley Sad

If you used the registry keys, you should see a new icon in control panel named Printer. Do your printers show up there?

Hi techguy,

sry ive to ask you another question. We found our printers now in the printers area in the control panel. But if we set a printer to default printer, the setting gets lost on the logout. Do you have the same problem?

thanks!

We had an issue with writable volumes and I use a solution like this: Logon/logoff tasks with registry import/export

Default printer not remembered (zero clients, windows 7, linked clones, persona management)

As of now, we use a managed 3rd solution (printerlogic) and that handles our printer installs/defaults.

I could find this thread too and the regkey works for us.
