Because they removed that ability.

Great!

What do I do now?

When I try to connect with regular client I get this error.

Is this ability also removed?

The legacy C# client no longer functions in vSphere 6.5. You must use the web client.

OK so how do I download a VM folder?

File by File?

You can do it file by file, programmatically with PowerCLI, or possibly API. And just as a tip, if you're wanting to download a folder of files that represent a VM, that's not a good way to go about it. Use a backup application instead to take a proper backup. There are several free versions available out there.

Veeam has a free edition which is quite good. As for your other issue, this is a separate topic so please start another thread to keep things organized.

Will do!

What about good old WinSCP and alike?

Can they still be used to copy and move folders and files?

It's possible but not recommended for moving and copying virtual machine files.

What is this new option of copy selection to new location?

When I clicked it, it created the folder within the folder?

Can I remove it to free up space by deleting it now?

Please advise.

It copies whatever you select to wherever you define. It creates a folder where you specify in the browser tree and then copies containing files.

Veeam has a free edition, which is what you get when you don't apply a license key.

No, I'm referring to Veeam free which is not a time-limited trial. Veeam Backup Free Edition for virtual machines (VeeamZIP)

Make sure client integration plug-in is installed on the machine from where you accessing the vSphere Web client.

Client integration plug-in provide following functionality in vSphere Web-client

    1. ovftool - Standalone CLI utility used to manage import/export of OVF and OVA images

    2. Windows Authentication - Allows the use of SSPI when logging in from the vSphere Web Client

    3. Remote Devices - Connecting client side devices such as a CD-ROM, Floppy, USB, etc. to VM

    4. File Upload/Download - Datastore file transfer

    5. Content Library - Operations related to the Content Library feature such as import and export

    6. Client Side Logging/Config - Allows for writing non-flash logs + vSphere Web Client flash and logging settings

Veeam is a Windows-based application. It does not have an appliance version. VeeamSCP is an old product name that became VeeamZIP.
