vSphere 6.0 U3 SQL Server and Numa Nodes

I'm running a SQL server on a Cisco BL 480 M5 with 112 Cores assigned and 3tb of memory.  I believe that there are 4 numa nodes in the BL 480 M5.   The VM isn't having trouble from a user perspective.  But I'm seeing high CPU Ready numbers.  It is the only VM on the host as well.  The current cpu assignment is 56 sockets by 2 number of cores per socket.  Ready numbers are averaging 113ms.  With a low of 73ms and a high of 442ms.   Would changing the cpu core to socket allocation improve those numbers?

Thanks.

How many physical cores are in your physical server (excluding hyper threads)?

28 cores on each socket.  4 sockets.

The most likely cause in this case is your VM is under utilized given the resource allocation you have made. Using a tool like vROps will give you a better idea of how it should be adjusted if it is indeed oversized. Assigning more vCPUs to a VM than what it is actually demanding produces higher CPU ready numbers and, if high enough, can result in noticeable performance degradation.
