My client wishes to convert legacy physical machines to virtual machines as part of their obsolescence management strategy. The majority of these systems are running Microsoft 2000 or Microsoft Server 2003 and come with OEM licences.
Using the OEM licence works when asked to activate Windows but this is in breach of Microsoft Licencing Agreement.
Am I correct in thinking that my only option is to purchase a current version of Windows/Server and downgrade the licence? If so, is this a simple process and has anyone had any success with this?
