VM MAC Conflict in vCD 9.0

Hi,

I got vCD 9.0 up and running in my lab and everything is working fine, but I am seeing VM MAC Conflict on all the VMs created by vCD.

As shown in the attached image.

How do I get this issue resolved?

Again, it is not causing me any problems with vCD, but still I'd like to know what is causing it and how to resolve it.

Thanks.

After doing additional research, this seems to be a known issue with vCD and it doesn't cause problems.

Duplicate MAC address alarms are present when a VM is deployed in vCloud Director

The easiest way to resolve it is to simply disable the "VM MAC Conflict" alarm. I just did that:

and everything is green now:

Thanks.

Hi,

Please try it buy removing the nic from template/catalog VM.  I tried this way and it worked.

We used to get this alert all the time, but we always ignored this. This issues started with vCD v6 and when we enquired from Engineering team about this, they told this is not vCD issue. vSphere is detecting the cloned VM mac address as duplicate.

This is normal if you are not doing full customization ... e.g. capture to Catalog and make an identical copy.

If you use any method of network isolation (any network from a network pool), then the MACs are isolated from one another (hopefully) and that should keep them from conflicting.
