1. Dashboards to be imported
Sunny Dua Jan 24, 2018 8:28 AM (in response to Sunny Dua)Dashboards to be imported
IMPORTANT NOTE - The dashboard kit includes a dashboard named "CPU Bug: VM Patching"
This dashboard processes all the Virtual Machines in your environment to come up with the list of Idle VMs and VMs with High CPU utilization. In large environment, this view might take up time to load since it has to process all the Virtual Machines.

Pietro Piutti Jan 23, 2018 5:45 AM (in response to Sunny Dua)Hi Sunny, first of all thank you very much for your efforts in putting together this set of dashboards (and guidelines).
This proves how versatile vROPs is.
I have noticed something weird though, which happen immediately after I installed the view/dashboards provided here: we have two clusters (in two sites) with 3x nodes each (v 6.6.1).
As soon as the new dashboards were enabled, CPU utilization on 2 out of 3 nodes spiked to 99% (and it has been like this consistently for a few hours).
From the Cluster Self Services Summary dashboard I see that CPU is used by analytics. Also I see high anomalies in the Persistence service on all nodes.
Could this be related to the new views and dashboards just installed (the timing matches perfectly)? Did they by any chance trigger some massive analytics background job?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.

JamieGator32 Jan 23, 2018 5:55 AM (in response to Sunny Dua)I am not seeing the import Dashboard option under the Manage Dashboards gear icon. The only options I see are Enable Dashboard(s), Disable Dashboard(s), Reorder/Autoswitch Dashboards, Manager Summary Dashboards, Share Dashboards
I am running version 6.6.1.6163035. I also checked my permissions and have the administrator role with all permissions selected.
I will keep looking but any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

JamieGator32 Jan 23, 2018 7:54 AM (in response to JamieGator32)I just realized (no pun intended) that I don't have a full enterprise license. I think that may be the reason it is not available to me.

Sunny Dua Jan 23, 2018 3:23 PM (in response to JamieGator32)Yeah... As mentioned in the blog post, you need advance edition or above.

Sunny Dua Jan 23, 2018 3:24 PM (in response to PCAL)Check if you are running Standard Edition. As mentioned in the blogpost, for standard edition you can use the OOTB dashboards available in the product. For Advanced edition you get to import or customize dashboards.

13. Re: Download Spectre and Meltdown custom dashboards kit for vRealize Operations Manager 6.6.x
Sunny Dua Jan 24, 2018 9:41 PM (in response to Pietro Piutti)I would not know if it is entirely related to the dashboards unless I look at the logs. However since you mentioned that you have 10K virtual machines, the View which filters down your Idle and Highly active virtual machines does analyse the utilization stats for last few days. This might be the reason for the spike.
I would recommend that if you are not using the "CPU Bug: VM Patching" dashboard then you can remove it to optimize the CPU Usage. The views in this dashboard are heavy as they are analysisng all the VMs in your environment.
Hope this helps.

Kim_Pedersen Jan 23, 2018 11:20 PM (in response to Sunny Dua)Hi Sonny
First of all - great work with the dashboards and it makes it so easy to keep track of where you are with the upgrades.
I also noticed a spike in CPU usage on 2 of our 7 data nodes but it stopped after 30 min and haven't spiked since.
Keep up the good work with sharing things about vRops, which we are going to use more and more.
Rgds,
Kim.
